The technical rescue program consists of a significant number of courses at MU FRTI. For many fire departments, technical rescues are the second largest percentage of emergency calls they handle. To meet this specialized training need, MU FRTI provides a broad range of courses from basic to advanced that address high angle, confined space, swiftwater, and other rescue techniques. Training courses are provided both on-campus and locally at host facilities. Approximately 80% of training sessions are delivered at the local level throughout the state where firefighters work and live.
MU FRTI regularly partners with local agencies and will provide specialized equipment and transport mobile training props to training sites in order to provide the necessary skills training associated with the program. This training meets national and federal standards and the State of Missouri Firefighter Certification requirements as applicable. More information on specific course accreditation is listed under individual course titles in the courses section of the website.
