Creating & Inspiring Exceptional Fire Department Leaders

This workshop explores critical and innovative leadership, supervisory and management information that will make fire officers of any rank more effective in their positions. The quality of leadership literally affects everything that happens in a fire department…positively or negatively. Therefore, creating and inspiring exceptional leaders in the organization will result in more positive, productive and healthy outcomes. Fire officers of all ranks, career or volunteer, will find this session a unique experience that will improve their capabilities as a leader.

Dennis Compton

Gallons Per Second

This class focuses on exceeding fire flow needs while managing water during crucial initial hose line advancement in an interior offensive attack. Learn why it is necessary to think in terms of gallons per second at this time. Strategies are presented for managing the booster tank supply until a sustainable water supply has been established. This class is especially relevant for engine companies that commonly engage with the booster tank and deploy suburban fire tactics. All aspects of first-due fire tactics at your most common structural fires and how to quickly and effectively suppress them will be covered.

Reading Smoke 2014: Tactical Solutions

Fire officers must adjust to the changes in fire behavior that have occurred in recent years or more firefighters will die or suffer injuries. Being able to read smoke on arrival is the key to predicting fire behavior. It helps you discover the specific location and intensity of a fire, building collapse potential and the likelihood of hostile fire events, such as flashover. This year's program is updated with new videos and attendees will leave with street smart tips that will help fire department decision makers.
