The University of Missouri Fire and Rescue Training Institute (MU FRTI) conducted a meeting with its Regional Training Coordinators on July 15, 2017, at the Institute’s offices in Columbia, MO. The meeting included Institute updates and the review of training plans for fiscal year 2018 (FY18). MU FRTI welcomed three new Coordinators at the meeting. These coordinators are: Region B Training Coordinator Joseph Schilling of Kirksville, Missouri, Region A Training Coordinators Robert Little of Kansas City, and Roger Meyers of Concordia, Missouri.
Regional Training Coordinator positions are part-time positions within the Institute assigned to each geographic emergency response region based on the Missouri State Highway Patrol regions. The regions are identified by letters corresponding to “A” through “I”. MU FRTI Regional Training Coordinators support the Institute by coordinating training classes within their region and assisting fire departments at the local level.
During the meeting, the Institute was pleased to host two special guests, State Fire Marshal Tim Bean of the Division of Fire Safety, and Associate Vice Chancellor Blake Naughton with the University of Missouri Extension and Engagement. Both guests shared information and updates with the Regional Coordinators from their respective entities.
MU FRTI is an Institute of the University of Missouri Extension and is charged with the responsibility of providing comprehensive continuing professional education training to Missouri's fire service and emergency response personnel.
