New Regional Training Coordinator Appointed

Region B Training Coordinator: Mr. Joseph Schilling of Kirksville, Missouri.

Director David E. Hedrick of the University of Missouri’s Fire and Rescue Training Institute (MU FRTI) has announced the appointment of a new Regional Training Coordinator for the Institute for Region B: Mr. Joseph Schilling of Kirksville, Missouri. Regional Training Coordinator positions are part-time positions within the Institute. MU FRTI is a unit within the Division of Extension at the University and is charged with the responsibility for providing comprehensive continuing education training to Missouri’s fire service and emergency response personnel. MU FRTI provides training for over 13,000 firefighters and emergency responders each year.

Mr. Schilling is a Captain with the Kirksville Fire Department. He has been an Adjunct Instructor with MU FRTI since 2005. Mr. Schilling will be responsible for coordinating training courses in Missouri State Highway Patrol Region B (North-east Missouri) which includes the counties of Adair, Chariton, Clark, Knox, Lewis, Linn, Macon, Marion, Monroe, Putnam, Ralls, Randolph, Schuyler, Scotland, Shelby, and Sullivan. Regarding Schilling’s appointment as a Regional Training Coordinator, MU FRTI Director Hedrick said, "Joe has been an active Adjunct Instructor for MU FRTI and has helped with a number of special projects for the Institute. He has a proven record of excellence in field extension training, and we look forward to Joe’s continued work with the Institute in this new capacity."

Retired Region B Training Coordinator: Robert Creed of Moberly, Missouri.

Coordinator Schilling fills the vacancy left by the retirement of MU FRTI Regional Training Coordinator Robert Creed of Moberly, Missouri. Mr. Creed has been an Adjunct Instructor for MU FRTI since 2010 and has served as the Regional Training Coordinator for Region B since 2015. Director Hedrick said, “Robert has been very active in the Institute’s Grain Bin Rescue Program and we appreciate his contribution to the success of that program along with his dedicated work in Region B.”  While Mr. Creed is stepping down as a Regional Coordinator, he will remain on our staff as an Adjunct Instructor.
