Dr. Marshall Stewart, Vice Chancellor for Extension and Engagement, announced that Blake Naughton, executive director for the Hook Center for Educational Renewal and associate clinical professor of education policy at the MU College of Education, has been named associate vice chancellor for extension and engagement at MU, effective Feb. 1, 2017.
Along with his considerable professional experience in higher education and its continuing education component, Dr. Naughton’s three academic degrees weave a connected theme of furthering effective university administration. A native Missourian, Blake attended Hannibal Public Schools and was raised by a family that has been living in Macon County and farming in Knox County for more than 150 years. He returned to his home state specifically to work with Mizzou and help it fulfill its mission as a land-grant university.
Throughout his professional career, Blake has focused on demonstrating why the university does matter and showing in measurable, relevant and actionable ways how the university serves the citizens. Dr. Stewart said, “We look forward to Blake’s passion and leadership as he helps us work together toward building a shared vision.”
Naughton will replace Mark Stewart, who has been serving as interim associate vice provost of extension. Mark will move into the role of director of field operations. One of Dr. Naughton’s responsibilities will be to oversee MU Extension’s Continuing Education programs, which includes the MU Fire and Rescue Training Institute.
