Mike Novak has over 29 years in the fire service where he started out as a volunteer firefighter and worked his way into a full-time position for Branson Fire Rescue, he currently is serving as the department training and safety officer. Mike currently holds the position of Region 7 Advocate Manager for the National Fallen Firefighters, Everyone Goes Home® Program (EGH). Mike is a certified EMT, Fire Service Instructor 2, Fire Officer 2, and a CFO, amongst many other fire service certifications.

Registrations postmarked or received after the early registration deadline, will be charged the regular tuition rate. All registrations must be received no later than the registration cutoff deadline.

This course addresses NFPA 1041, Standard for Fire Instructor Professional Qualifications, Chapter 4, 2012 edition competencies at the fire service instructor I level. This course focuses on the presentation skills needed by new instructors delivering prepared lesson plans. Students will cover lesson plan preparation, presentation skills, using audiovisual equipment, identifying lesson objectives, questions, tests, and evaluation instruments.

 

Special Requirements

  • Participants will meet in-person for the first day of class and to receive login instructions.
  • The remainder of the class will be instructor-led through an online portal over seven weeks.
  • This course requires a computer with Internet access.
  • Students should bring an Internet-capable laptop to class.
