It is recommended that participants complete the following courses prior to taking the Leadership III for Fire and EMS: Strategies for Supervisory Success:

  • In the lower-division baccalaureate/associate degree category, 1 semester hour in business administration, fire science, public administration, criminal justice, or emergency medical services (7/14).

American Council on Education (ACE)
  • This course curriculum is developed and maintained by the National Fire Academy and is delivered in compliance with the standards of the National Fire Academy off-campus program. Courses are registered and approved through the Missouri Division of Fire Safety as the NFA State Training Partner. Upon successful completion of this course participants will receive a National Fire Academy certificate of completion.

U.S. National Fire Academy (NFA)

This course provides the company officer with the basic leadership skills and tools to perform effectively in the fire service environment. This course covers when and how to delegate to subordinates, assess personal leadership styles through situational leadership, discipline subordinates, and apply coaching/motivating techniques for the company officer.
