PUB_AF 8001 Emergency Management I

Emergency Management

This three credit topics course will be delivered 100% online in a 9 week term. The course will provide students with a thorough understanding of emergency planning and preparedness.

Topics will include:

  • The nature of hazardous threats:
  • The history of and human behavior in disasters;
  • The principles and practices of emergency management and
  • Planning and preparedness measures for disasters.

Course developed and delivered by the Harry S Truman School of Public Affairs and the MU Fire and Rescue Training Institute.



This online course is hosted by the Harry S Truman School of Public Affairs University of Missouri.

In order to enroll in this course you will need to contact the Harry S Truman School of Public Affairs.


Non MU Students

Students wishing to take the course who are not already MU students will need to apply to be a non-degree seeking online student through the Graduate School. Students are required to provide a baccalaureate transcript from a regionally accredited institution.

MU Students

If you are already a graduate student at MU, you can email with a request for permission to take the course.
