Mark works part-time as the Technical Rescue Program Manager for the Fire and Rescue Training Institute. He is currently in charge of maintaining the Technical Rescue program curriculum and developing the new Technical Rescue curriculum. A position he has held since August 2008.
Mark began his career in the fire service over 32 years ago as a volunteer with the Prairie Township Fire Protection District. In May of 1983 he became a volunteer with the Central Jackson County Fire Protection District, and took a full time position in 1999. He currently holds the rank of Assistant Chief of Operations at CJC.
He began his teaching career with the University of Missouri Extension, Fire and Rescue Training Institute as an adjunct instructor in 1991. He holds numerous certifications, and continues to provide instruction in many of the Technical Rescue programs, as well as teaching Fire Instructor 1 & 2 and Fire Officer 1 & 2.
